CAMP - DAY 3! Afternoon/ Evening...

Hi!
What a PERFECT weather day for a hike. Probably about 73 degrees F, with a slight breeze. Sunny skies.
I went out with a group on their all day adventure. My group bused to Paso Picacho campground near Lake Cuyamaca (A great place to take your family. There are some great hiking and viewpoint spots all around). Some students got to hike to the top of Stonewall Peak (a great 2 mile climb). From the top you can see all the way to the ocean!
We did about 3 miles on the trail and saw a family of deer! That is a very rare sighting, and the kids loved it (see the video). We also chased wild turkeys! During the hike the students learned a lot about native plants and wildlife, as well as the native people that inhabited the area hundreds of years ago.
Afterwards, we had a BBQ lunch in the campground area (hamburgers). Another special treat for the campers. The students also took some quiet time to write in their journals and contemplate their "special place in nature." Be sure to have your child show you their camp journal.
Tonight's dinner is always the favorite: PIZZA night! Needless to say, a lot of slices were consumed.
After dinner the students continued to do new nighttime group activies. Some students are also preparing for tomorrow night's talent show which is another popular event.
Thursday is the final full day at camp and will continue to keep the students busy, and learning about outdoors.
Thanks!
Mr. Sandoval
